About the Program

It’s artEquity’s 10th anniversary and we want to be in community with you! Join us for the 2025 Alumni Gathering in Los Angeles where it all started back in 2015. And it’s right on time!

It’s been a tumultuous start to the year. Deliberate attempts are being made to overwhelm us and instill fear in our communities. Our response? Bring it. We’re all in.

In the face of fear, we will move with intention. In the face of pushback, we will double down. In the face of crises and chaos, we will choose love and joy. And we will do that with you, our community. Let’s plan to gather in October and throw down because we won’t be silenced or erased!

So all you visionary change-makers, artist-activists, and community leaders, join us in Los Angeles to recharge your spirit, renew your sense of grounded defiance, and dream into a future of justice!

This year, the Alumni Gathering will consist of a four-day series of in-person convenings that will:

  • provide an opportunity for us to (re)connect and recharge;
  • center healing as our vibe;
  • connect with local culture and artists/activists; and
  • allow us to dream into a future of possibility.

Additionally, we invite all attendees who identify as People of Color, BIPOC, AAPI, MENASA, ALAANA, SWANA, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native, Latinx/Latine, or People of the Global Majority for a late morning / early afternoon of rest, relaxation, and affinity on October 22, 2025.

Join us as we honor the last 10 years of artEquity and forge the path for the next 10 years!

SCHEDULE:

October 22

WHERE WE GATHER, WE BEGIN
Wilfandel Club + St. Elmo

We open with warmth, joy, and collective ease. An afternoon BIPOC kickback and celebration of our reunion with games, art, good food, and story circles at the Wilfandel Club. In the evening, we welcome all participants to a dance floor calling your name at St. Elmo Village. We will ground in place and land, and set the frame for our time together in LA.

Meals Provided: We will provide a full lunch during the BIPOC gathering and light bites and mocktails during the reception.

October 23

WE ARRIVE WITH ALL THAT MADE US
Annenberg Community Beach House

We center legacy, identity, and origin stories. Join us for a ritual on the sand, shared meals, small group spaces, and storytelling prompts to lift up the superpowers that carry us forward.

Meals Provided: We will provide a light breakfast, a full lunch, plus snacks, coffee, and tea throughout the day.

October 24

WE DREAM IN WORLDS WE BUILD TOGETHER
La Plaza de la Raza

We imagine beyond what’s possible. A full day of collective worldbuilding, values-led design, solidarity economy visioning, and creative circuits led by your host team. In the evening, we open our doors to the public for an intimate community conversation with local artists, organizers, and leaders on belonging, disappearance, and the fight for home.

Meals Provided: We will provide a light breakfast, a full lunch, plus snacks, coffee, and tea throughout the day.

October 24 Public Event

Finding Ground in a Shifting World
La Plaza de la Raza

While the Alumni Gathering registration may be closed, we’re still eager to gather with you in person in Los Angeles! We’re excited to announce that we’ve created two moments that are free and open to the public—Finding Ground in a Shifting World and Leimert Park Offerings.

Join us at La Plaza de la Raza, 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. PDT, to convene with local organizations and enjoy a community pop-up dinner available for purchase by Dear Mama LA!

Hang out with us for a while! After dinner, we’re amping up the community energy with Finding Ground in a Shifting World, an intimate conversation that brings together cultural workers, organizers, and artists across movements to share strategies that are working and how we can build power towards a shared freedom. We’ll hold space for the grief of what’s been lost and celebrate the love that endures. This conversation will begin at 7 p.m. PDT.

Please RSVP if you intend to join us, space is limited.

Can’t make it in person? Tune in from where you’re at! We’ve partnered up with HowlRound Theatre Commons to livestream this event. Access the livestream here.

October 25

PRACTICE IN THE PRESENT
Wilfandel Club + Leimert Park

We reflect and be in community. A morning of integration and personal reflection, followed by a public community-centered afternoon with Leimert Park’s local organizations, whose work sits at the intersection of art, activism, and mutual aid.

Meals Provided: We will provide a full breakfast. Lunch will be on your own in Leimert Park.

October 25 public event

LEIMERT PARK OFFERINGS

While the Alumni Gathering registration may be closed, we’re still eager to gather with you in person in Los Angeles! We’re excited to announce that we’ve created two moments that are free and open to the public—Finding Ground in a Shifting World and Leimert Park Offerings.

Join us for a community-centered afternoon with some of Leimert Park’s incredible range of local anchor arts and justice organizations to share an interactive experience of workshops celebrating the intersection of solidarity, art, mutual aid, and local cultural practice.

Venue Announcement

We’re looking forward to visiting the following program venues:

Founded in 1945 by Black women leaders, the Wilfandel Club is one of LA’s oldest African American women’s civic organizations, rooted in service, hospitality, and resistance.

A vibrant artist enclave in Mid-City, it was founded in 1969 by Rozzell and Roderick Sykes to celebrate Black creativity, neighborhood pride, and radical imagination.

A public gathering space on Tongva land at the edge of the Pacific in Santa Monica; once a private estate, it is now a coastal commons.

A cornerstone of Chicanx/Latinx arts and organizing in East LA, it is home to generations of cultural work, community education, and political movement.

A historic South LA neighborhood, Leimert is where Black business, art, organizing, and everyday life intersect past, present, and future.
