About the Program
It’s artEquity’s 10th anniversary and we want to be in community with you! Join us for the 2025 Alumni Gathering in Los Angeles where it all started back in 2015. And it’s right on time!
It’s been a tumultuous start to the year. Deliberate attempts are being made to overwhelm us and instill fear in our communities. Our response? Bring it. We’re all in.
In the face of fear, we will move with intention. In the face of pushback, we will double down. In the face of crises and chaos, we will choose love and joy. And we will do that with you, our community. Let’s plan to gather in October and throw down because we won’t be silenced or erased!
So all you visionary change-makers, artist-activists, and community leaders, join us in Los Angeles to recharge your spirit, renew your sense of grounded defiance, and dream into a future of justice!
This year, the Alumni Gathering will consist of a four-day series of in-person convenings that will:
- provide an opportunity for us to (re)connect and recharge;
- center healing as our vibe;
- connect with local culture and artists/activists; and
- allow us to dream into a future of possibility.
Additionally, we invite all attendees who identify as People of Color, BIPOC, AAPI, MENASA, ALAANA, SWANA, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native, Latinx/Latine, or People of the Global Majority for a late morning / early afternoon of rest, relaxation, and affinity on October 22, 2025.
Join us as we honor the last 10 years of artEquity and forge the path for the next 10 years!

WHERE WE GATHER, WE BEGIN
Wilfandel Club (11 a.m.–3 p.m.) + St. Elmo (6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m.)
We open with warmth, joy, and collective ease. An afternoon BIPOC kickback and celebration of our reunion with games, art, good food, and story circles at the Wilfandel Club. In the evening, we welcome all participants to a dance floor calling your name at St. Elmo Village. We will ground in place and land, and set the frame for our time together in LA.
Meals Provided: We will provide a full lunch during the BIPOC gathering and light bites and mocktails during the reception.
October 23
WE ARRIVE WITH ALL THAT MADE US
Annenberg Community Beach House (10 a.m.–5:30 p.m.)
We center legacy, identity, and origin stories. Join us for a ritual on the sand, shared meals, small group spaces, and storytelling prompts to lift up the superpowers that carry us forward.
Meals Provided: We will provide a light breakfast, a full lunch, plus snacks, coffee, and tea throughout the day.
October 24
WE DREAM IN WORLDS WE BUILD TOGETHER
La Plaza de la Raza (10 a.m.–5 p.m. + 7 p.m.–9 p.m.)
We imagine beyond what’s possible. A full day of collective worldbuilding, values-led design, solidarity economy visioning, and creative circuits led by your host team. In the evening, we open our doors to the public for an intimate community conversation with local artists, organizers, and leaders on belonging, disappearance, and the fight for home. Click here to RSVP for the public event.
Meals Provided: We will provide a light breakfast, a full lunch, plus snacks, coffee, and tea throughout the day.
October 25
PRACTICE IN THE PRESENT

Meals Provided: We will provide a full breakfast. Lunch will be on your own in Leimert Park.
Logistics and Other Important Info
Detailed program agenda
Please check out our detailed program agenda here. In this booklet, you’ll find start and end times, shuttle pickups and drop-off times, lunch times, and other important scheduling information to support you in preparing to gather.
Transportation
As a reminder, we have arranged a shuttle bus to transport participants to/from the hotel to/from our programming venues.
Thank you to everyone who has filled out the transportation survey. If you haven’t done so already, please respond by Friday, September 26.
For those of you who are driving, we have created a parking information document for you. Please note: street parking at St. Elmo may be limited and the nearest lots are a 5-10 minute walk.
Local area guide
Looking for some good eats or shopping while you’re in town? We got you! Check out our Local Area Guide.
Note: Los Angeles is VAST. This guide focuses on businesses in close proximity to our home hotel (The LINE LA in Koreatown) and downtown LA.
What to bring
Please help us reduce single-use plastic waste by bringing a reusable water bottle as we will not be providing plastic water bottles during meals.
Los Angeles weather may include sunny days, as well as some overcast mornings. The evenings can become very cool, so we encourage bringing light layers and options for this daily transition.
Sunscreen and sunglasses are highly encouraged.
We will be utilizing both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout our programming, so layers will be great to transition between spaces.
Wear comfortable shoes as we gather.
There is a pool onsite at The LINE LA that you will have access to so please bring swimwear if you plan to partake in some pool time!
While we will be providing a small number of masks on site, if you prefer a certain type of mask, please bring it! We invite you to mask at your level of comfort.
Partiful
If you haven’t already, please join us on Partiful. We will use this platform to communicate with you all onsite. You can see who else is joining us, connect with other attendees, and begin planning your adventures! While there is an app version, this platform can be accessed from your browser and does not require a download.
COVID-19 Guidelines
We recognize that participation in the Alumni Gathering, including related travel to and from Los Angeles, carries with it certain inherent risks related to COVID-19 transmission that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken. As we navigate these risks, we support those who are vulnerable in taking the precautions they need to care for themselves. We also invite others to participate in a spirit of community care that honors these precautions and boundaries being set by others to support their health.
With this in mind, if participants are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID prior to the travel to the gathering, we ask that they remain home.
As we navigate this current moment, we are mindful of how the bodies of women, trans people, and People of Color are being policed—through access to healthcare, who is targeted by the legal system, and efforts to regulate gender identity. For these reasons, as we practice community care for the gathering, part of this care is not mandating what people do or don’t do with their bodies. While we will not be mandating testing, Covid tests will be available at the hotel and programming venues should participants wish to test onsite or take a test before returning to their communities. Should a participant receive a positive test result, we do ask that they notify the Alumni Gathering team.
Additionally, during the gathering, masks will be available and optional for all events. We invite everyone to mask at their own level of comfort and ask for consent when unmasking around masked participants when in intimate proximity. Note that a large portion of programming will also be taking place in outdoor spaces.
To keep our community safe while gathering, we will continue to monitor any shifts in CDC-recommended protocols and will be in communication as guidelines shift.
Please reach out to artEquity Program Co-Producer, Alexis Green, at agreen@artequity.org. Once on-site you can also text or call Alexis at (602) 319-7243 if you have questions, if you do not feel well during the retreat, test positive for COVID, or if you need additional support.
